The middle...

James has been going to The Children's Village now for 2 weeks!
I cant begin to tell you how amazing this place is...I drop him off and I don't worry one bit about the care he will receive while there, and you cant really top that feeling as a parent!

He has been making more of an effort to speak more clearly to us, speaking so fast was a huge hurtle for him. He also has had the opportunity to make friends with another little boy, socialization is great for him as well. He learned "Ring Around The Roses" on Thurs and he would play that for hours if you let him...so sweet!

Thurs was also the first time we sent him in his underwear, he is potty trained at home, but we had him wearing pull-ups at school until he felt comfortable. He didn't have an accident and pull-ups are so much closer to getting the boot in the Mayhugh life!! He now only wears them to bed.

We showed up a little early to pick him up and he needed to use the restroom right when we walked in. I got to see him go into the bathroom, go potty, then he came out walked to the sink turned it on, pumped some soap into his hand, scrubbed and rinsed, then he took a paper towel and dried his hands then used the paper towel to turn off the sink!! I thought that was AMAZING!

well guess I've made it clear James is great!..moving on to the less important people in the house LOL. I am doing great, I wish I had a little more energy to workout more, but I'm hoping with the weather change it will get us out and even more active. Cant wait to ride bikes again, that was my favorite part of Fall last year. And you know us Mayhugh, its almost October {the best month of the year!} so we are super excited. Nothing like HALLOWEEN!

Adam is working back at the soldier center, he enjoys it but its such a funky schedule. All the people in his company are going to the field for 3wks they will all be gone during Halloween, so no huge Mayhugh Halloween party this year, we are pretty bummed!

Adams parents will be here in 2weeks!!! we could not be happier to have west coasters in the house, family at that! we miss everyone so much and so when they come we are truly happy! The visit is only about week, but whatever we can get is enough for us!

James First day at School

Dropping him off was easy..for him

James was so excited

I didn't CRY!!!

Well the said today went well!..I was worried because 7hrs is along time!
They said that James had fun playing outside, which is something he never
gets to do at our house cause his toys are always covered in bugs!!
He is still potty training and does great at home, never has accidents, but had to be in a pull-up
all day there..i think its just cause he was nervous of the bathroom etc.
He had a couple meltdowns his teacher said, but nothing to serious.
When we came in to pick him up he looked very tired, again that a very long day for a little guy!
So Adam took him to get a new toy {why being tired warrants new toy..not sure?}
but we are home and he is same old happy James, using some new words and phrases
which is great! I'm sure happy for him and cant wait to see what the next few visits are like!

James is off to school!

Starting Tues Sep 14th James will begin to attend "The Children's Village"
Its a child care location in Richmond Hill {not to far from our house} that provides an ABA service as well!
Its so amazing because unlike other places that are one on one with a teacher and that's it, this place the ABA person does whats called inclusion therapy meaning James will get to interact with the other kids at childcare center!...that's great for him because he hardly ever has a chance to play with other kids his age. He will go Tues and Thurs from 8:30am-3:30pm!! wow that's a long day! I'm thinking he will be a little stressed the first day but then he will catch on eventually!
Adam and I on the other hand aren't going to know what to do with ourselves LOL..our time to hang out truly alone is after James goes to bed..so maybe 3hrs a night, so being able to spend time during the day is unheard of!! We are gonna get alot of time to do the things that are alittle tougher with James around i.e go running, movies, eating out, golf etc. I'm so excited for everyone!
I'm going to take pic's of the place he is going to and him all dressed up in his backpack...but I'm not gonna promise no crying...from me that is

The begining...

August was an interesting month for the Mayhughs!
James has been gifted by Tri-Care (army health care) $36,000 for one year of ABA {Applied Behavior Analysis} therapy!!
We had James going to a place in Savannah, but the therapist called and canceled just about every other visit with these tremendously terrible lies. {e.i : someones dying}..seems ironic that they would become fatal 2hrs before my son Apt!
Anyhow we went on the prowl for a new location and were given a list of some other options...i spent just about all of Wed. on the phone with multiple places asking questions and getting a feel for them.
Needless to say we picked a winner! They not only are just about 10mins from our house they are one of the top ABA companies in the southeast.
So this coming Thurs James will go in a do a 4hr evaluation and I will be asked just about every question possible about him.
Lots of paperwork to do, Adam is still working nights on his mural so that frees him up in the day which is nice.
