Creation of a dress..

So this year we went back and fourth with what we wanted to be as far as Halloween goes.
It was so frustrating...."Vampire or something new"??? I swear we've said that about a million times!
So we finally came to the conclusion that we were just gonna be vampires and just add to our costumes from last year.

Until....I started to think of some ideas to turn some of my own things into a costume! My friend Krystle suggested Frankenstein and his Bride as a costume idea, I thought that was a cute idea! I got on my laptop and as I began looking at pictures the Tim Burton in me started to come out full force! I suddenly had the image of being the Corpse Bride! At that same moment I realized that would be awesome, I also realized I have no skills in this area lol.

All I had to do was show Adam all the "bridal" clothing items I owned {Big puff thing that goes under your wedding dress to make it puffy, and my veil}... as well as other things {white corset, gloves, white vamp shirt} and the gears in his mind started ticking!

I didn't take long before he was full force ripping, cutting, painting and designing my dress! (He is my own little Vera Wang!)

He has the most creative mind, I just told him what I wanted he researched a bit, then he was in his own little world! I felt bad, I just sat on the couch eatin roasted pumpkin seeds he made earlier that day (he is also my little Rachael Ray) I asked if he needed help, but like any artist, the answer was no!

I watched in amazement as my dress began to take life! he painted and cut for about 2hrs! I contributed a small amount by taking some small white gloves I had, cutting the finger tips off, shredding holes in them and sewing some lace around the wrist. Then I took them and dunked them into the blue paint mixture then ringed them out in water, just to stain them a bit ....they look so awesome!

He began to put designs on the dress and OMG!!!
So this is what he had done Sunday night...

But he woke Monday morning and decided it needed a lot more work!
He went to the store and got more blue colors to add to the dress,
as well as silver sequin pieces, and flowers
(He is also my little Martha Stewart)

So after he added more color to everything he moved on to detailing it. He added some silver glitter onto the black line designs. I began to help by gluing the flowers onto my veil and gloves as well as the dress . He also spiced up my bouquet with flowers and the colors of the dress! (and YES, my actual wedding bouquet)

The Corset is the top of the dress, I added flowers to the edges and it just made the whole thing pop!
So this is it so far....
I will post pics of when I have it on and its all put together....
but that wont be till Halloween Eve.
Worth the wait...Its going to be amazing!

I was so happy, everyone thought it was amazing!! I'm very thankful to the hubs for making this for me!

.....these were our pumpkins this year

Adams Parents Visit Oct.2010

Sunday:
We woke that morning so excited to see how James would feel seeing Nana when he came downstairs, I brought him down and he said "Hey Handsome!"(his name for her)..and from that moment on they were inseparable!
She read him the same two books she brought him all morning till we left for church.
Church went great, all James needed was "his Purse"..he made Nana give him her purse for the whole service..and that's when he discovered her Cherry chap stick, or as he called it "Movie Red" (he meant to say Ruby Red) Then he proceeded to put the "movie red" lipstick on all over his lips, chin, etc LOL! Very distracting!!
We got some lunch and dinner but pretty much relaxed around the house for the day.

Monday:
We decided to head Downtown to Forsythe Park, its so pretty down there! We hit up the park so James could get some energy out, he also needed to go touch the water fountain!

Brighter Day the health food store we love is across the street so we went over there and Nana got James some snacks!
By then it was time for lunch, we were only down the block from "Mellow Mushroom" best pizza in Savannah by far!! Outside of amazing food, they serve GLUTEN FREE PIZZA so James gets to eat out to!!
After our yummy lunch we swung by a Pumpkin Patch on the way home!!

Adam made us an awesome dinner...
and no evening is complete without yoga with papa and more stories                   while baking cookies with Handsome!

Tuesday:
We decided just go shopping and relax. We did swing by Adams work so his parents could see the mural that he did. But we had such big plans for Wed. and Thurs that we needed one day to chill so we got some lunch at Molly's, and Adam again stole the night with an awesome Chipoltle dinner! James showed Nana how "Larry" sleeps! LOL

Wednesday:
Got up early to get the day started!
Long drive down to the Crab Shack on Tybee Island but well worth it!!
James got to feed some alligators with Nana

Lunch was amazing!!! The table split a huge platter of Crab Legs, Lobster Claws, Sausages, Potatoes, Craw Fish and mussels! ..even James joined in on the mussel eatin fun!

Before and After.......

From there we headed over to Fort Pulaski!
That was so much fun! we forget how much history we are
surrounded by living her in the south.
Standing on a real drawbridge over a moat (or as James would say a river)

We got to watch a real live musket firing demonstration, after the guy gave James the spent shell!

This is the place that John Wesley preached his first sermon on American soil.

Thursday:
Woke early to drop Bella off with my neighbor, then it was off to Jekell Island! James made it the whole hour drive, but we did have to pull over to a rest stop once there so he could go potty....but i was so proud of him!!
Jekell Island is like a small place outside of this world, hardly a population and its so quite. Probably the most relaxed place ive ever seen, would be a great place to retire.
The Sea Turtle Center is the reason that we came, its a rehabilation center for sea turtles that have been found hurt on the beach or in the ocean. They keep them and treat them then release them back in to the ocean.

It was so neat to see a real live sea turtle! Adam had to get James this super cute turtle backpack
from there we headed over to this sea side grill for lunch, and back on the road we went!
Jacksonville was about another hour drive from Jekell.

The Zoo was fun as usual but even more fun because adams parents where there to see james have so much fun. Its james favorite place, he'd live there if we'd let him! There was hardly anyone there so that was nice, james got to feed the giraffes which was so cute! It was over all our best trip!

From the Zoo we headed back to our hotel, to unpack and relax for a bit...then it was off to dinner! We got some dinner at Jackosnville's Mellow Mushroom which was delicious (Kosmic Karma, and Buffalo Chicken)

We had decied to stay the night at the hotel so adams parents could have that extra time, they left for the airport at about 5am, we got up shortly after to start the 2hr trek home!We had such a great time and we cant wait to live closer so we can visit with them more!

Good Night...

Gotta be Veggie Tales!

If you like to talk to tomatoes...
you would've loved to have been at the grand opening of the Lifeway Christian Bookstore in downtown Savannah Ga! We got a flyer in the mail last week saying that Bob and Larry would be there, and we just could not pass that up!
James loves Veggies Tales, but like most kids his age seeing them in real life isn't always what they have in mind!

We showed up a little early and waited around for awhile, then suddenly they just came walking out of this back room..he was smiling ear to ear and in shock! Bob approached us first and James gave him a high five..then Adam set him down so he could go up and give Larry a high five as well....

Shortly after he wanted Adam to pick him up and would not let him put him down. I'm sure the reality of the situation set in and then he got a little shy. We decided to go and once outside he had a look on his face like "what the heck was that all about"

but then he was super excited cause I Bought him a plush Larry and Bob for him! He loved that, and talked about how awesome it was to see them the whole ride home!
